Everyone says “open your heart” but no one explains how— or what the Heart Chakra actually does. So we made this page to hold that space: to explore not just the love and compassion, but the grief, the boundaries, and the healing that lives here. If you're navigating loss, forgiveness, or deep self-love, this guide to the Heart Chakra is your gentle companion back into connection—with yourself and the world.
“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” – Rumi
The Heart Chakra, Anahata, is located at the cardiac plexus, just behind the physical heart. It governs our capacity for giving and receiving love, for forgiveness, and for living with grace.
In Sanskrit, “Anahata” translates as “unstruck” — the untouched sound of the soul, the silence that exists before vibration. It symbolizes the subtle field of love and connection that transcends physical form.
The element of Air lends this chakra its qualities of movement, spaciousness, and integration. It is through the heart that we begin to bridge our earthly and divine selves.
Here you step into the “law of grace”—transcending karma, reaction, and ego. The Heart Chakra opens your channel to Divine Guidance, allowing love to flow freely within and outward.
In balance, you experience enduring compassion. You feel connected, generous, and open to joy. There is a sense of wholeness, where giving and receiving love feels natural and safe.
When this chakra is blocked, you may feel disconnected from others or struggle with giving and receiving love in equal measure.
Use soft, floral, and emotionally healing oils to support the Heart Chakra:
Apply diluted to the chest area or diffuse to create a heart-centered environment for meditation, healing, or self-care rituals.
Place over your heart or hold during affirmations and meditations to increase receptivity and release emotional tension.
These celestial bodies govern beauty, harmony, love, and spiritual devotion. Call on them to support your journey toward self-love and universal compassion.
Visualize a vibrant green light, softly spinning at your heart center. Let this gentle, glowing sphere radiate calm, ease, and loving awareness through every part of your being.
Let the breath guide it: inhale love, exhale judgment. Inhale peace, exhale resistance.
These postures expand the chest, stimulate circulation through the lungs and heart, and unlock the energetic bridge between the lower and upper chakras.
Mantra: “I am love. I live in grace. I give and receive freely.”
Repeat this softly within. Visualize your heart blooming open like a flower, petal by petal, with every breath.
Seed Sound: YAM (Keynote F)
Chant “YAM” for 1–4 minutes to dissolve emotional barriers and reconnect with joy and compassion. Let the sound flow through your chest, clearing old pain and opening the way for connection.
Sound F Tone – YAM
Visualize a glowing emerald-green spiral spinning in your chest as you chant. Let the sound carry your intention for healing and harmony into the field around you.
With your right middle finger, gently press the center of your chest (heart center) for 1–4 minutes. Breathe deeply into the area.
Allow the breath to expand your chest and move energy freely throughout your body.
"I am love. I am open. I am whole."
As you inhale, welcome in Divine Grace. As you exhale, offer that love freely to the world. Let your heart beat in rhythm with all of life.
